The challenge brief

Design. Build. Load-Test.

Teams receive a constrained material kit and a span requirement. They must design, build, test and strengthen a bridge before the final load test.

Agree the mission rules and success criteria during the briefing, then let your team choose its approach.

What shapes the challenge
  • Materials are limited
  • The bridge must meet a minimum span
  • Load testing is controlled
  • Efficiency can be scored alongside strength
Inside the experience

Your mission, step by step.

A practical progression from the first decision to the final demonstration.

01

Understand the span and load requirement

Confirm the span, support points and agreed load-test method.

02

Plan the structure before building

Sketch a structure that directs the load through stable supports.

03

Construct within the material limit

Build within the material allowance and check the joints as you progress.

04

Load-test and diagnose weak points

Apply the agreed test load gradually and identify the first weak point.

05

Refine and present the final design

Reinforce the design and explain how the changes affect strength and material use.

Purpose behind the experience

Build capability through participation.

Resource optimisation

Invest limited materials where they contribute to the load path.

Design thinking

Turn the span requirement into a buildable structural concept.

Risk assessment

Identify weak connections before increasing the test load.

Collaborative planning

Agree the construction sequence and divide the work around it.

Bring the learning back to work.

The strongest structure is not necessarily the most efficient. Teams experience trade-offs between strength, cost, complexity and speed.

Good questions.
Clear answers.

Planning details for Bridge Builders. Bring any additional requirements into your conversation with Sieger.

Is this suitable for non-engineers?

Yes. The challenge is designed around intuitive building and testing rather than engineering theory.

Can we add a cost model?

Yes. Materials can carry virtual costs to introduce budget and efficiency trade-offs.

Can Sieger customise the challenge for our objective?

Yes. Difficulty, narrative, scoring, team size, duration, venue layout and the workplace behaviour being explored can all be customised.

Can this be combined with other technology experiences?

Yes. The experience can be combined with electronics, drones, robotics, STEM, software, AI and mechanical challenges to create a larger technology challenge journey.

How many people can take part in Bridge Builders?

The current planning format is 20–120 participants, organised into teams of 5–6. Confirm the final group size with Sieger so equipment, facilitator coverage and team rotations can be planned.

How long should we allow for the experience?

The indicative activity duration is 60 min. Briefing, practice, team presentations and debrief requirements can affect the final agenda; agree the complete session timing during planning.

What equipment is involved?

The proposed kit includes Straws / sticks / connectors, Load weights, Span supports, Measuring tools, and Engineering scorecard. Confirm the final equipment list, participant devices and venue requirements with the programme team.

Who is this experience suited to?

The existing format is designed with leadership teams, engineering groups, project teams, cross-functional teams in mind. Share participants’ experience levels so the technical depth and facilitation can be matched to the group.

How are the results discussed?

The facilitator can use the agreed challenge rules, team decisions and observed results to guide the debrief. The discussion connects resource optimisation, design thinking, risk assessment to situations your team encounters at work.

How do we plan a Bridge Builders session?

Send your preferred date, location, participant count and learning objective through the enquiry form or call +91 98400 97567. Sieger can discuss the suitable format, equipment, venue needs and proposal.
